Many public companies are busy fending off shareholder demands (in one form or another) that they disclose political and lobbying expenditures. Covington’s Election and Political Law Practice Group and its Securities Law Practice Group are holding a conference call this Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. Eastern, to discuss recent developments, and strategies companies are using to reduce their exposure to political spending related litigation. The lawsuit brought by the New York State Comptroller against Qualcomm, which the Comptroller recently dismissed, has heightened awareness of this issue among corporate secretaries, in-house counsel, and government affairs shops. Covington represented Qualcomm in that case.
I’ll be joined for this one-hour conference call by my securities law partner, former SEC official Keir Gumbs. For more details and to RSVP, check out our firm’s website.
