The White House today announced its intent to nominate two lawyers to serve as commissioners on the six-member Federal Election Commission: Lee Goodman, an election lawyer at LeClairRyan and Ann Ravel, the chair of the California Fair Political Practices Commission.

According to the Center for Public Integrity, Goodwin has been selected to fill the seat currently occupied by FEC vice chair Don McGahn and Ravel would replace Cynthia Bauerly, who resigned earlier this year.  Currently, the terms of all five sitting commissioners have expired.  Both nominees must be confirmed by the Senate.  If confirmed, they will be the FEC’s first new commissioners since 2008.
