Monty Roberson advises clients on a broad range of national security issues, including reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). He advises clients on potential national security risks posed by foreign investment, and he assists clients seeking national security approval before CFIUS. Monty advises clients on sensitive national security investigations and compliance matters, including mitigation agreements with CFIUS. Monty also advises clients on issues under the National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM) including the determination and mitigation of foreign ownership, control, or influence (FOCI).
Monty is also experienced in cyber compliance investigations, and advises clients on the False Claims Act and related issues.
Monty's pro-bono work focuses on veteran issues and immigrant clients. He has worked on numerous veteran naturalization matters, as well as a discharge upgrade and a Traumatic Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance application. Monty also successfully represented a former Afghan Army Special Forces soldier in his defensive asylum claim in the United States.
Before joining Covington, Monty served for 11 years as an intelligence analyst for the United States Department of Defense.
